Storage and drying instructions for filament.

New page

=== Storage ===
All 3D printer filament should be kept in sealed plastic bags with silica gel to save the reels from their hygroscopic selves and prevent wet filament from spoiling prints.

If the filament has been left out or is potentially not perfectly dry, place the reel in the dryer for a few hours, then seal in a plastic bag with silica gel. The bags and silica gel are kept alongside the filament on the storage shelf.

=== Drying ===
The filament dryer is located next to the 3D printers and can be used by placing the reel inside and pressing either of the front panel buttons to turn on.

Pressing the front panel buttons shows the target temperature which can be adjusted up and down using the appropriate button and the display will revert to the current temperature after a few seconds.

55 is a good general target temperature.
